We welcomed as our guests Vladimir Surguy who comes from the Ukraine but now lives
in Sedalia, and his friend and helper, Mike Green also of Sedalia on Sunday, February
14. Mr. Surguy provided special music which he played on his accordian, and
gave his testimony about oppression in the U.S.S.R. before coming to America with
his wife and eight children. Mr. Surguy has some difficulty with speaking
English and so his friend Mike Green helped him interpret what he wanted to say.
The message was filled with his love for Jesus Christ and his dedication to reaching
out to others with the Good News. The message was very well received, and
we look forward to another future presentation by Mr. Surguy as he plans to bring
a 20 piece orchestra to share with us again.
Mr. Surguy and Mr. Green joined us for our fellowship dinner following church where
Mr. Surguy again entertained us with his beautiful accordian music.
The church board held their regular board meeting following the dinner and a decisions
was made to begin work on an updated pictorial directory of the church members and
friends since our current one is now outdated. It was also reported that we
had sent $500 and a box of health kits to relief for Haiti earthquake survivors.
The next Youth Sunday will be April 18 and plans are being made by the young people
of the church for the youth to conduct the entire worship service on that date.
A special Worship Service was held on Sunday, January 17.
The service was
conducted by the youth of the church. Scriptures
were read byEmily Kidwell,
Hawk Luerra, Bear Luerra, Grace
Gilroy, Cameran Kidwell, Gary Kidwell, Nikki
Hagston. The morning message was given by
Jonathan Highland. Special music was presented by Joe Todd and Jennifer Highland and Isaac Highland led the
singing. The youth did such a wonderful job that it was decided by the Worship
Committee that the youth would lead a service once each quarter.
The church accepts financial donations for a fund to be distributed by the
church to needy persons and families as emergency needs become known. This
fund will be in addition to the Mission Committee's work. Pastor Bill Siebert
will be accepting these donations to be made payable to Yeager Union Church and
he will be allocating emergency funds as needs become known. Donors can in
this way be anonymous to the receivers, and donors are welcome to make suggestions
for use of the funds.
A "free" table is available in the church for individuals or families to donate
items in useable and good condition no longer needed. These items can be taken
by anyone needing them. Items not taken will be delivered to the Warm House
in Warsaw or the Christian Outreach in Lincoln for distribution by them to the needy.
