Westport UMC providing sandwiches helping the homeless with their lunch and care.
The church helps individuals and families in the community as need arises.
OTHER MISSIONS:
Our Mission Committee sent $500 and a box of health kits for relief in Haiti following
the devastating earthquake.
Our Mission Committee responds to those individuals and families in our community
who experience financial needs for help with food, heat and electricity.
The board voted in September 2006 to donate $550 to the mission work of Miss Machala
Wilson who works with the handicapped through Special Touch Ministries. Miss
Wilson's dedicated work is known and has been witnessed first hand by members of
the board.
Special offerings are taken annually for Gideon's International which places bibles around
the world. The church also belongs to the Cole Camp Area Church Alliance which helps area needy
persons as well as transcient people in need of help. After the tsunami disaster, the church
took a collection, added a check and sent the donation to UMCOR Fund to help.
Following the Katrina
hurricane, the entire collection received on the following
Sunday was sent to
UMCOR to assist with the relief efforts.
We look for ways
to be God's people in times of need for those less fortunate.
